JGP Romania Recap

Men
Maxim Kovtun of Russia won the gold medal in his JGP debut.  Ryuju Hino of Japan claimed the silver medal and a likely spot in the Junior Grand Prix Final.  Nam Nguyen of Canada climbed onto the medal stand in only his 2nd event, improving from a 12th place finish in Latvia by improving his personal best by 20 points.  Shotaro Omori of the United States finished 4th in his JGP debut.

Paul Fentz of Germany improved from 18th last season to 7th here with an increase in his personal best by 21 points.  Yakov Godorozha of Ukraine also increased his personal best by 20 points.

Ladies
Polina Shelepen of Russia claimed her second gold medal and a spot in the Junior Grand Prix Final.  Her teeammate Polina Korobeynikova took home the silver medal in her 2nd international event and increased her personal best by 10 points.  Hae-Jin Kim continued her impressive improvement this season by claiming her first medal (a bronze) and increasing her personal best by another 13 points.

Sabrina Schulz of Austria increased her personal best by 15 points, Melanie Swang of Thailand increased her personal best by 15 poitns and Amanda Sunyoto-Yang of Taipei increased her personal best by 17 points.

The two Japanese ladies finished near the top, but well below their personal bests.  Yuki Nishino finished 24 points below her personal best and Yukiko Fujisawa finished 27 points below her personal best.

Dance
Stepanova and Bukin continued the Russian dominance of Junior dance by claiming a gold medal.  Galyeta and Shumski of Ukraine took home their second silver in as many weeks and will have to wait and see if it was enough to claim a return trip to the Junior Grand Prix Final.  Bent and MacKeen of Canada claimed a bronze medal in their JGP debut.  Hawayek and Bramante of the United States finished 4th in their debut.

Bugrov and Rogov of Israel increased their personal best by 13 points and Haeuser and Lerche of Germany increased their personal best by 14 points.
