  11. Nardozzi/Cuthbertson: 20.08 TES + 18.45 PCS = 38.53 and into 8th place
    1. A really neat jump into his arms for their first rotational lift and some nice position changes
    2. She slips a little on the Golden Waltz and bobbles a few steps
    3. A really nice shoot the duck position from her
    4. An interesting transitional lift where she flips over her back and kneels on the ice
    5. Some interesting movements in their step sequence but he doesn't seem to fully use his arms
  12. Davis/White: 38.78 TES + 37.26 PCS = 76.04 and into 1st place
    1. I adore their connection to each other on the ice
    2. Very fast twizzles and just slightly off in the 1st set
    3. Very nice movement in relation to each other and nice edge quality and performance in their step sequence
    4. Good speed and flow through their Golden Waltz with nice deep knees and good edges
    5. There are a few places I'd like to see her arm a little less placed and more natural but overall they have great carriage and movement through their upper bodies
    6. A great entry into the rotational lift and nice positions for her
  13. Wingle/McKernan: 31.15 TES + 23.92 PCS = 55.07 and into 5th place
    1. A little bouncy in parts of the Golden Waltz but they have nice flow and good coverage of the ice
    2. Way off unison on their twizzles and very far apart
    3. A nice curve lift with her over his shoulder but I'd like to see a little more arch in her back
    4. She really needs to extend through her free leg in the step sequence
    5. I didn't know they were coached by Zoueva/Shpilband
  14. Aronow/Donohue: 19.95 TES + 20.89 PCS = 40.84 and into 10th place
    1. She is 19 and he is 20

    4. Really wild by him on the first twizzle set and they have no unison and are very far apart
    5. A one armed rotational lift with her in a catch foot position but I'd like to see a little more arch in her back
    6. She has a nice presence on the ice and some nice performance qualities
    7. Apparently Shpilband and Zoueva coach this team too!
  15. Kriengkrairut/Giuletti-Schmitt: 32.08 TES + 26.51 PCS = 58.59 and into 4th place
    1. A nice stratight line lift with great position changs and a nice exit
    2. Great unison on their twizzles and very clean transitions between the sets
    3. She has a nice presence on the ice and really uses her hands and arms well to accent the Golden Waltz
    4. A really nice split spin that was a great transitional moment
    5. A solid step sequence and they get great ice coverage
    6. A really nice transitional lift at the end of the piece and she spirals down his body to the ending pose

    3. A fall on her triple lutz

    5. A nice spiral and footwork into her double axel which she pops into a single and two foots
    6. A decent stepwork sequence but a lot of reaching forward
    7. Slow in her sit spin but a nice low position
    8. Nice haircutter position in her layback spin

    7. A nice double axel near the end of her program
    8. I'd like to see a better arm position on the layback spin but a nice haircutter and Biellman position

    8. Very nice layback spin with good haircutter and biellman positions and nice speed
  20. Yasmin Siraj: 26.63 TES + 24.28 PCS -1.00 = 49.91 and into 7th place

    9. Nice speed through her donut position but I'd like to see a little more stretch through the catch foot
  21. Rachael Flatt: 31.55 TES + 30.77 PCS = 62.32 and into 3rd place
    1. I'm not really crazy about this yellow long sleeve dress on her

    5. Good camel positions and a lot of improvement in the catch foot variation with a lot more flexibility
    6. I'd like to see a different arm position for her on her layback spin
    7. Really nice double axel with good speed
    8. A nice Ina Bauer on a nice crescendo in the music
    9. So much expression and passion from her in this step sequence but at points it almost starts to look slightly wild, but she's put the most into her footwork out of anyone I've seen so far
    10. Really nice closing spin combination and the crowd is on their feet, one of the best programs I've seen from her and nice choreography from Lori Nichols
  22. Danielle Kahle: 25.13 TES + 20.74 PCS = 45.87 and into 14th place

    1. She steps out of the triple flip but tacks on her double toe
    2. An interesting variation in her layback spin with her arms hooked behind her back; she could use more stretch and speed through her layback position
    3. A really nice triple lutz with good flow out of the jump
    4. Nice speed through her sit spin but only one slight change of position
    5. She looks a little wild in some of these positions in her combination spin and she could use more stretch through the last two positions
    6. I'd like to see more passion from her in this step sequence, especially since it's a tango and I'd like to see her deeper in her knees
    7. A nice double axel right at the end of the program

US Nationals: Junior Free Dance

  1. Glastris/Allison: 23.43 TES + 24.38 PCS = 47.81 Total: 84.02
    1. They are skating to West Side Story and are currently in 12th place
    2. Their first set of twizzles were nice but the second set was slow and off unison
    3. Nice fast rotation lift with her in a hair cutter position
    4. A nice position for her in the backwards straight line lift but he struggles to keep his back leg up
    5. The Dance spin really showed off her flexibility
    6. I feel like they don't have enough connection to the music or each other and she has a huge grin on her face which is nice but doesn't convey the complexity of the story
    7. A nice straight line lift with him in a spread eagle position and her held parallel to the ice
  2. Wojton/Soyfer: 23.91 TES + 23.19 PCS -1.00  = 46.10 Total: 82.95 and into 2nd place
    1. They are skating to Triplets of Belleville and are currently in 11th place
    2. She's in a rainbow brite costume
    3. Nice twizzles
    4. Rotational lift with her in a hair cutter position.  I'd like to see a little more innovation in the lifts since this position has already been used 3 times in two programs
    5. They both really need to stretch through their free leg in these step sequences and extend all the lines
    6. They seem to have difficult with the dance spin since she's taller than him
    7. On the straight line lift at the end I'd like to see more speed from him and more core strength from her
  3. Dzierzanowski/Dispenza: 27.93 TES + 22.38 PCS = 50.31 Total: 75.67 and into 3rd place
    1. They are skating to Lola and are currently in 13th place
    2. She's skating with her shoulders hunched forward through the first section and even in the holds in the step sequence
    3. She needs to really extend through her leg when its lifted in the air
    4. Decent dance spin
    5. Curve lift with her suspended over the ice
    6. Awkward music change with a fade in the middle of a phrase
    7. Interesting lift with him in a spread eagle and her with her leg over his shoulder
    8. They start out very far apart on their twizzles and on the second set their free leg is barely off the ice
    9. Nice one arm hold rotational lift with her held away from his body
  4. Buckner/Taylor: 28.35 TES + 26.10 PCS = 54.45 Total: 93.96 and into 1st place
    1. They are skating to Grease and are currently in 10th place
    2. I like that they've really tried to embody their characters not only in the costumes but the hair and makeup as well
    3. This step sequence seems kind of slow with this music and she has a slight bobble in one spot
    4. A nice change of position in their rotational lift
    5. I'd like to see her arch her back more in the two positions in the combination lift and really increae the dramatic wow value of the element
    6. I'd like to see them having a lot more fun through the Greased Lighting section and really turn on the performance
    7. He seems very wobbly in the twizzles
    8. Really slow dance spin and in the arabesque position their legs are crossing oddly
  5. Olson/Cowan: 40.01 TES + 32.91 PCS = 72.92 Total: 121.12
    1. They are skating to Zoot Suit Riot and are currently in 6th place
    2. Nice rotational lift with a variation on the hair cutter position
    3. She is such a performer and this piece seems to really suit her

    5. A nice curve lift close to the group and she has a nice position
    6. Nice fast dance spin with good changes of position
    7. Nice twizzles with good speed and good positions
    8. Flip into a lift that goes around his head and changes position
    9. A nice variation on a swing lift at the end with her going over his head and through his legs

    1. They are skating to Come What May and are currently in 7th place
    2. There are some really nice moments at the top of the piece
    3. They aren't very together on their twizzles but they were executed nicely
    4. Great entrance into their first lift and he hold her by her foot and swings her around.  I like that there was no big set up for the lift and it takes you by surprise
    5. She needs to really get into her knees on the step sequence and make her steps bigger so it doesn't look like shes bouncing on the ice
    6. They're traveling a lot on the dance spin
    7. She also has a tendency to sickle her free foot which destroys the leg line
    8. Nice arch in this lift with him in a spread eagle and a nice transition into the rotational lift with one arm hold
    9. I'd like to see them really connect to each other in this piece because the choreography is really nice and they have some really nice elements but they don't really portray that they're a couple in love
    10. A Davis and White esque lift at the end of the program
    11. Not really sure what happened but they both fall to the ice at the end of their program and it takes them a little bit to get up
  7. Gamelin/Gamelin: 34.28 TES + 35.44 PCS -1.00 = 64.72 Tota: 108.67 and into 2nd place
    1. They are skating to Smooth and are currently in 8th place
    2. Nice opening lift with her upside down and he in a spread eagle and I like that she adds a little personality to the lift with a shimmy
    3. Nice fast twizzles with some difficult, interesting positions
    4. Interesting dance spin variatiojns with good speed and centering
    5. They tend to not have the cleanest transitions out of elements and I'd like to see them work on these
    6. Nice split rotational lift
    7. She needs to really stretch through her free leg to get it all the way straight
    8. This program seems to really suit her as she performs it well and her body looks very natrual executing the elements
    9. A very fun program and nicely done
  8. McNamara/Carpenter: 32.59 TES + 30.60 PCS = 63.19 Total: 102.99 and into 4th place

    4. Rotational lift in the hair cutter position

    6. They will be 12 and 15 next month--their programs lack a little of the polish of some of the older teams but they are very advanced for their age

    1. They are skating to Dramatico and are currently in 5th place
    2. I love her dress and I like that their costumes match each other in terms of time period but aren't matchy matchy
    3. Really nice lift with her over his shoulder and leaning back and he skating on one foot
    4. They hop into thier twizzles and are very close together and have very fast rotations
    5. She takes a fall on some transition movements and he has trouble getting her back up
    6. They recover nicely into their next lift with him in a spread eagle
    7. A nice one arm hold rotational lift
    8. Some nice positions in their dance spin
    9. They have some really nice edge work in their step sequences

    7. A nice one arm hold rotational lift near the end of their program
  12. Lichtman/Copely: 39.57 TES + 37.48 PCS = 77.05 Total: 132.28 and into 1st place
    1. They are skating to Beetlejuice and are currently in 2nd place
    2. Really unique first position in their dance spin and I like that there's not a huge break before the change of direction
    3. They have nice speed through their first step sequence
    4. He stumbles out of the second set of twizzles
    5. Flip into their first lift with a nice exit--one of the things I like most about Zoueva/Shpilband teams is that the entrances and exits to the lifts are always innovative and a highlight
    6. This step sequence is really intresting in that they have varied steps
    7. She's doing a needle in this lift
    8. Haircutter variation around his body with fast rotations
    9. This lift at the end is really neat and looks very difficult
  13. Yang/Baker: 29.86 TES + 34.04 PCS -1.00 = 62.90 Total: 118.99 and into 6th place
    1. They are skating to Windmills of Your Mind and are currently in 1st place
    2. They have nice positions in their dance spin
    3. She falls on their twizzles halfway through their first set and can't get up in time to do the second set, they'll lose major points on that
    4. Flip into a nice spread eagle lift with change of position
    5. One armed rotational lift
    6. I find this music distracting--I almost wish they would cut the speaking voice and just use the instrumental
    7. Nice attitude position in their next lift for her
    8. She has really nice quality of movement and a very lyrical expression
    9. I didn't really love this program but they have so much potential and so much talent that I think if they can find the right vehicle they could be pheonomenal

US Nationals: Junior Pairs Short Program

  1. Denney/Raad: 24.46 TES + 18.39 PCS = 42.85
    1. Her sister is Caydee Denney, reigning national pairs champ
    2. They are 15 and 23 years old
    3. Nice double twist with a clean catch
    4. Nice sbs double axels
    5. Nice overhead lift with a flip exit but I'd like to see her have more stretch in her air position
    6. She two footed the landing on the throw double and was a little forward
    7. Nice death spiral position
    8. Good timing on their sbs spins but they lose it in the middle.  Nice positions with good flexibility
    9. I'd like to see more performance from them here in the step sequence and to really attack these steps
  2. Duarte/Grafton: 23.69 TES + 21.66 PCS = 45.35 and into 1st place
    1. Nice sbs double axels
    2. Nice double twist with a clean catch
    3. Nice air position in the lift with a nice exit
    4. Very clean throw double
    5. Nice sbs spins with good unison and good positions, they start to lose their unison at the very end
    6. I like the weaving in this step sequence and their connection with each other
    7. Really pretty death spiral position but they only hold it for one or two rotations
  3. Sowa/Leenen: 23.64 TES + 18.52 PCS = 42.16 and into 3rd place
    1. They are 17 and 21
    2. I like their intensity but some of their moves seem overly stiff and placed and don't really flow
    3. Nice solid sbs double axels to start their program
    4. She can't get her free leg back on the landing of the throw jump but otherwise it was nice
    5. Nice one armed overhead lift but she bends her leg on the exit
    6. Double twist was good, not as clean of a catch and I'd like to see her get her free leg higher on the landing
    7. She seems a little hunched over in some of these moves in the step sequence and her arms don't always fully extend to the end of the movement
    8. Their sbs spins started out off but they got back together to be on the same timing
    9. Nice death spiral position with an interesting exit
  4. Carman/Reiss: 24.38 TES + 20.88 PCS = 45.26 and into 2nd place
    1. I like that they are in character before they start their program
    2. She is 16 and he is 18
    3. Nice high double twist with clean catch
    4. These two skate with so much speed
    5. Clean sbs doubles
    6. Nice death spiral position
    7. There's a lot of personality and nice touches in the choreography of this program
    8. Nice easy throw double
    9. Good unison on the sbs spins until the change of the foot when they get off
    10. The first position in their lift is odd but she has a nice position after the change
    11. They're both moving so fast on the footwork and a little far apart so it was hard to see how together they were at the start but the second half is nice
  5. Poapst/Knierim: 23.80 TES + 20.54 PCS = 44.34 and into 3rd place
    1. She is 18 and he is 23 and they are skating to Papa Can You Hear Me
    2. Really high double twist with a nice clean catch
    3. Really pretty throw double
    4. She singles the sbs double axel and two foots the landing
    5. She needs a little more arch in her back in the first air position but the change of position is nice and they have a nice exit
    6. I really like her death spiral position
    7. They're not hitting the same positions in some of their sbs spins and they're really off unison
    8. I like the connection they have with each other in this step sequence and it goes really nicely with their music
  6. Bautista/Harris: 19.62 TES + 19.00 PCS = 38.62 and into 6th place
    1. She is 18 and he is 22
    2. I'd like to see her really get into the choreography in the beginning and let the moevements flow instead of being so tight and placed
    3. Nice double twist
    4. Nice sbs doubles with a good landing
    5. Good unison on the sbs spins with some difficult positions--probably the best unison thus far
    6. The positions in the air were nice but it looks like they lost their grip on the change of position to the one arm hold and he had to set her down
    7. I like this step sequence but I'd like to see her get a little more into the ice because she's kind of bouncing on top of it now and it makes her edges not as clean
    8. Nice clean throw double
    9. She has a nice death spiral position but they don't do many rotations
  7. Calalang/Sidhu: 25.12 TES + 18.51 PCS = 43.63 and into 4th place
    1. She is 15 and he is 19
    2. Nice side by side double axels
    3. Nice high double twist with a clean catch
    4. Really nice throw double
    5. She has a nice air position in the lift but with a little more arch in her back and extension in her legs it could be a great air position
    6. Nice step sequence with great flow and eash of movement
    7. Off a little on the unison of the sbs spins but they get back together and lose it again at the end
    8. Really nice death spiral position for her
  8. Cain/Reagan: 25.74 TES + 21.89 PCS = 47.63 and into 1st place
    1. A really nice throw double to start off their program
    2. She has a really nice air position and a nice position change in the lift
    3. This team looks so mature and polished considering they were only novices last season
    4. Nice double twist but she may have come a little too close to his chest on the catch
    5. Nice clean sbs double axels
    6. Really nice sbs spins with good unison
    7. Nice step sequence but it comes at a down part of the music which I don't like.  It is neat to really hear their blades on the ice though.
    8. She has no arch in her back in the death spiral position
  9. Garza/Frazier: 24.24 TES + 20.60 PCS = 44.84 and into 4th place
    1. She is 14 and he is 18
    2. Super high double twist with a nice clean catch
    3. A nice throw double but she didn't really have much height
    4. Nice sbs throw doubles
    5. She had a bit of an awkward position in the overhead lift
    6. Nice spirals into a pretty death spiral
    7. Nice unison on their sbs spins but a few awkward positions
    8. It looks like they were a little ahead of their music and started the fast section of their step sequence before the music changed
    9. I'd like to see a lot more energy in this step seqeuence
  10. Andrews/LeDuc: 26.07 TES + 21.33 PCS = 47.40 and into 2nd place
    1. She is 17 and he is 20
    2. Nice high double twist with a clean catch
    3. Nice side by side doubles with a tano arm
    4. Nice overhead lift with one arm hold and a one arm exit
    5. The throw double jump looked a little two footed to me
    6. Nice unison on their sbs spins and their positions show off great flexibility from both
    7. She has a nice death spiral position
    8. I like that their step sequence has moments when they're doing different steps and then they come together at the end
    9. They even had a set of twizzles that would make the ice dancers proud
  11. Oltmanns/Santillan: 19.32 TES + 18.55 PCS = 37.87 and into 11th place
    1. She puts her hands down on the throw double
    2. Interesting entry into their sbs spins and for the most part they have good unison.  I don't like their transitions between the spins as they get into some awkward positions
    3. Double twist with a clean catch but she doesn't get much height
    4. Sbs double axels lacked unison
    5. I'm not crazy about her death spiral position and she seems to be wobbling a little bit
    6. Their lift positions aren't great and he sets her down so low that she has to bring her knees in to get her skates on the ice
    7. I'd like to see her really extend her free leg in this step sequence
  12. Guterres/Schumann: 19.40 TES + 16.54 PCS = 35.94 and into 12th place
    1. She is 18 and he is 20
    2. She doesn't seem to get both of her legs in the same position in the lift and I think her legs are just a little bit too far apart
    3. A little crash on the landing of the double twist but I think this could be rectified by him throwing her higher
    4. He had a little bobble on the landing of their sbs doubles but held on to it
    5. Nice throw double
    6. Lack of unison on their sbs spins throughout and they get very slow at the end
    7. She has no arch in the death spiral position and is almost laying on the ice
