US Nationals: Novice Ladies Short Program

  1. Mia Eisenhandler: 16.50 TES + 16.80 PCS = 33.30
    1. She is 15 years old and is skating to Ice Queen
    2. Interesting entrance into her solo jump from a sit position and she jumps with her hands on her hips
    3. She does a single axel
    4. Her layback position is nice with good speed into a haircutter
    5. Interesting spiral position into a nice arabesque
    6. Double-double combination and she could have used a little more speed
    7. She could use a little more stretch through her camel position but great sit spin positions in her combination spin
    8. She finishes slightly after the music but otherwise a solid program
  2. Alana Walker: 18.92 TES + 16.19 PCS = 35.11 and into 1st place
    1. She is 15 years old and is skating to Opening from Mishima
    2. Opening triple double combination had a long prep into it and there wasn't a lot of speed out of the landing but the jumps were nice
    3. Solo jump was well done
    4. Nice spiral positions
    5. Good stretch through her camel position but she could be lower in her sit position, good extension in her catch front leg spin
    6. Nice double axel
    7. Good positions in her layback spin into hair cutter into a nicely extended Biellman but she could use a little more speed
  3. Mariah Bell: 23.13 TES + 18.78 PCS = 41.91 and into 1st place
    1. She is 14 and is skating to East of Eden
    2. Nice Double Axel at the start of the program
    3. Great extension through her spiral positions
    4. Nice triple double combination with a lot of speed out of the jumps
    5. Great solo triple
    6. Great speed in her layback spin but she could extend her biellman position more and hold it for a few more revolutions
    7. She looks like she's really enjoying herself out on the ice
    8. Nice low sit spin positions into an interesting upright spin with a lot of speed
    9. Really nice program overall
  4. Hannah Miller: 21.61 TES + 18.73 PCS -1.00 = 39.34 and into 2nd place
    1. She is 14 years old and is skating to Singing in the Rain
    2. Love the choreography at the top of her program and she looks so comfortable on the ice
    3. She falls on her opening triple
    4. Triple double combination with one arm up in the second jump
    5. Nice spiral positions
    6. She has great speed and ice coverage through this program
    7. Great speed through her layback spin but she could use a little more stretch through her biellman position
    8. Nice double axel
    9. Nice camel spin position but she could use more sretch through the second postion, good low sit spin positions into a nice scratch spin
    10. Tons of personality on the ice and she really sells her program
  5. Viviana Mathis: 17.81 TES + 15.17 PCS = 32.98 and into 5th place
    1. She is 14 years old and is skating to Totentanz
    2. Nice high double axel to start her program and its landed exceptionally well
    3. Lots of speed going into her double-double combo
    4. She could use more speed and difficult positions through her layback spin
    5. I'd like to see her work on keeping her spiral position directly behind her in the leg catch
    6. Nice solo double jump
    7. Nice camel position into a nice low sit spin and a nice catch front spin
    8. It looks like she finished her spin a little early and had to make up some choreography to get to the end of her music
  6. Amanda Hofmann: 17.09 TES + 16.02 PCS -1.00 = 32.11 and into 6th place
    1. She is 15 years old and skating to English Viola Romance
    2. Her costume is very elegant and I like how all the pieces fit together
    3. Really pretty and nicely extended spiral position
    4. She turns out of her opening triple and has to put her hands down
    5. Nice layback spins into a gorgeous Biellman that picks up speed
    6. She has a very nice quality on the ice and has some really nice lines
    7. Nice double axel but may have been slightly forward on the landing
    8. Nice solo double jump but she'll be penalized for having no combination in this program
    9. Nice camel position and she picks up speed through her position changes, could be lower in the sit spin
    10. Her hair is stuck in her headpiece and is a little distracting
  7. Jordan Bauth: 17.56 TES + 15.60 PCS = 33.16 and into 5th place
    1. She is 13 years old and is skating to Summer of 42
    2. I'm not crazy about the green triangle of rhinestones on her pink costume
    3. Shes starting with her layback spin with a fast haircutter but she needs to work on speed and stretch through her Biellman position
    4. Nice double axel
    5. Good speed in her double-double combination
    6. She could use more stretch through her arabesque spiral position and straighten her bottom leg in her second spiral
    7. Solo jump with her hands on her hips
    8. Nice camel position into a low sit spin into a catch front spin but I'd like to see her extend through her legs a little more
  8. Katia Gorodetsky: 15.23 TES + 15.43 PCS -1.00  = 29.66 and into 8th place
    1. She is 16 years old and is skating to Palladio
    2. She fell on her opening jump attempt
    3. She popped open her axel attempt and two footed the landing
    4. She needs to work on her back and leg positions in her layback spin but she has a decent Biellman
    5. A nice spiral but she could use a little more extension through her arabesque
    6. Nice triple-single combination
    7. Nice camel position but she needs to work on the illusion position, nice low sit spin and good extension on the y spin
  9. Ysabel Tran: 15.78 TES + 16.67 PCS -1.00 = 31.45 and into 8th place
    1. She is 13 years old and is skating to Ice Symphony
    2. Hand down on the opening double axel but good height on the jump
    3. Nice solo double jump
    4. Great extension in her spiral positions
    5. Nice positions in her layback spin and tremendous speed through her haircutter and Biellman
    6. She puts her hand down on her triple jump but doesn't fall but can't complete the combination
    7. Nice stretch through her positions in her final spin and she soes what looks like a variation of Caroline Zhang's "pearl"
  10. Jessica Pfund: 15.05 TES + 12.87 PCS -2.00  = 25.92 and into 10th place
    1. She is 13 years old and is skating to The Sorcerer's Apprentice
    2. Fast triple jump and she lands it but then falls down
    3. Fall on her next jump as well--her air position looks good and it just seems like a confidence issue and she's sitting down on her landing
    4. She could work on her layback position and adding more difficult position variations
    5. Nice low sit spin position and good speed
    6. This is a fun piece of music and I'd like to see her have a little more fun on the ice
    7. She could use more extension through her arabesque spiral position but the leg hold position is nice
    8. She lands a really nice double axel at the very end of the program.
  11. Ana Draovitch: 16.96 TES + 17.02 PCS = 33.98 and into 4th place
    1. She is 14 years old and is skating to Night at Madrid
    2. Nice double axel at the top of her program
    3. She seems to be handling the pressure well of being in front of the home crowd
    4. Nice double jump  with an arm variation
    5. Nice camel spin position into a nice low sit spin with good speed throughout and a nice catch front hold at the end of the spin
    6. The choreography in this program really suits her
    7. Double jump and she turns out of the landing but tacks on a single jump to make the combination
    8. Nice spiral positions
    9. Really pretty and fast layback position into a nice Biellman
  12. Barbie Long: 24.87 TES + 16.90 PCS = 41.77 and into 2nd place 
    1. She is 14 years old and is skating to Love Story
    2. She has some good speed at the top of the program but I'd like her to stretch through her legs a little more
    3. Nice opening jump with good height
    4. Nice triple double combination
    5. Good speed through her layback spins but she loses it in the Biellman and could use a little more stretch through that position
    6. Difficult spiral going backward but could use more extension
    7. Nice solo triple
    8. Fast scratch spin into nice low sit spin position
