JGP Poland Ladies Preview

At the halfway point in the JGP season, there are a surprising number of ladies making their JGP or international debuts and several more making their season debuts.

Evgenia Medvedeva won the gold medal in her debut in Latvia, nearly scoring 170 points.  She'll likely need a medal of any color to qualify for the Final.  As Russia's lone entry here, the pressure will also be on her to make the medal stand but her arsenal of triple + triples should keep her on the podium.

Angela Wang is making her season debut after qualifying for the Junior Grand Prix Final last season.  She's done much better in the free skate than in her short programs and has found herself in a hole in the past.  She does have some extremely difficult technical content including her signature triple + triple + double to open her free skate.

Mariah Bell won the bronze medal at JGP Mexico this season.  Although she's historically been a short program skater, she was able to pull up after the short program on the strength of her free skate and was only a few points off the silver medal.  She'll need a gold medal to earn herself a trip to the Final while a silver or bronze would keep her in contention.

Gabrielle Daleman finished just off the podium at both of her events last season and finished a strong 6th at Junior Worlds.  She'll need a personal best to keep up with the top ladies here and claim her first JGP medal.

Miyabi Oba won a silver medal at one of her JGP events last season and finished in 4th at her 2nd event.    She was remarkably consistent last year with her scores hovering in a 6 point range, but she'll need to take that consistency up a notch as her scores are about 10 points less than what medal winners have earned this season.

Chantelle Kerry, AUS: She placed 14th at Four Continents.  She finished 19th at JGP Slovenia and 11th at JGP Croatia last season.  Her personal best is 118.11.  She is 17 years old.

Kristina Isabel Yntema, AUT: She placed 18th at JGP Latvia.  Her personal best is 98.32.  She is 14 years old.

Daria Batura, BLR: This is her international debut.  She is 14 years old.

Vasilena Yakimova, BUL: This is her JGP debut.  She is16 years old.

Gabrielle Daleman, CAN: She finished 6th at Junior Worlds.  She placed 6th at JGP Austria and 5th at JGP Germany last season.  Her personal best is 149.39.  She is 15 years old.

Julianne Delaurier, CAN: This is her international debut.  She is 15 years old.

Christina Rae Yan, CHN: This is her international debut.  She is 16 years old.

Li-Hsueh Lin, TPE: This is her JGP debut.  She is 15 years old.

Anna Duskova, CZE: This is her international debut.  She is 13 years old.

Brita Paula Poder, EST: This is her international debut.  She is 14 years old.

Jenni Saarinen, FIN: She placed 14th at Junior Worlds.  This is her JGP debut.  Her personal best is 129.81.  She is 14 years old.

Lena Marrocco, FRA: She placed 10th at Trophee Eric Bompard last season.  Her personal best is 132.44.  She is 18 years old.

Nia Gadelia, GEO: This is her international debut.  She is 13 years old.
