U.S. Nationals Junior Pairs Free Skate

Fujimoto/Barsi-Rhyne: 33.79 TES + 35.20 PCS = 68.99 Total: 107.44
  • They are skating to Swan Lake and are currently in 9th place
  • Nice double twist with a clean catch
  • Nice hand to hand lift with a one arm hold but a little bobbly on the one arm exit
  • A little slow on the pairs spin
  • Decent pairs spiral with nice matching positions
  • Hip press lift with him in a spread eagle with a change of edge 
  • Nice throw double loop
  • She steps out of the first jump and does not do the combination
  • A little wobbly on the second jump as well
  • Good timing on their side by side spins
  • Through the legs and into a good double throw
  • Nice death spiral position with a change of hold
Goldberg/Dolkiewicz: 38.91 TES + 33.93 PCS -1.00 = 71.84 Total: 108.99 and into 1st place
  • They are skating to Mulan and are currently in 11th place
  • Really nice death spiral position
  • Nice triple twist
  • One armed entry into the hand to hand lift and one arm exit but she could have more arch in her position in the air
  • Side by side double flips were nice
  • Nice positions in the pairs spiral but her hip is really hiked to the side on the attitude position
  • Throw double was good
  • She could stretch more through the catchfoot camel position in the pairs spin
  • Nice double + double side by side jumps
  • He loses his footing on the side by side spins and can't finish them
  • I'd like to see a more stretched out position from her in the Star lift
Oltmanns/Santillan: 34.77 TES + 38.13 PCS -1.00 = 71.90 Total: 109.30 and into 1st place
  • They are skating to Assassin's Tango and are currently in 10th place
  • I love the intensity in their eyes from the moment they enter the ice
  • Nice entry to the hand to hand lift with a good position change and a somersault exit
  • Nice death spiral position with a really nice exit out of it with a kick over his head
  • Nice entry to the side by side spins with a loss of unison in the middle
  • Nice side by side triple salchows
  • Double twist with a clean catch and good speed
  • Fall on the throw triple salchow but she had a ton of height and distance
  • Throw double toe
  • Nice pairs spiral
  • Good positions in the pairs spin but some loss of speed at the end
  • Feed froze on their side by side jumps but it looks like she stepped out
  • Hip press lift into a nice star position with an exit into a dance lift
  • A little struggle getting situated in the ending pose and a bit after the music
  • If they can clean up some of the solo elements, they have the whole package with really nice transitions and performance quality
Pearce/Norris: 35.08 TES + 41.59 PCS = 76.67 Total: 122.21 and into 1st place
  • They are skating to Rodeo and are currently in 6th place
  • Nice double twist
  • He steps out of the side by side double axels
  • Nice rotation on the star lift with a flip exit
  • She steps out of the throw double loop
  • Good death spiral with a change of hold
  • A little off on the timing of their side by side spins and they start to move away from each other through the sit section
  • She could use more stretch and flexibility through her legs in the pairs spin and not hike her hip so much in the attitude position
  • Good pairs spiral
  • Nice entry to a one handed hand to hand hold with a one arm exit
  • A bit of a struggle for both of them on the double + double toe combo
  • Nice throw double right at the end of the program
Aaron/Settlage: 38.35 TES + 43.73 PCS -3.00 = 79.08 Total: 125.34 and into 1st place
  • They are skating to Romeo and Juliet and are currently in 5th place
  • He bobbles on a transition move right at the beginning
  • Nice side by side triple salchows
  • Nice double twist with a really nice arabesque on the landing
  • Nice height on the throw triple salchow and she almost hangs on to it but sits down at the last second
  • She botches both jumps in their two jump combo
  • Good distance between them on the side by side spins with really nice synchronization
  • It's amazing how much maturity and presence they have for a team that won the Novice title last season
  • Fall on the throw double loop
  • Nice entry to the hand to hip lift with a one hand hold and a twist exit
  • Nice position and one arm hold on the hand to hand lift with a one arm exit
  • I'd like to see her free leg closed in on that death spiral
  • Nice pairs spiral with good change of holds in relation to each other
  • Good positions and speed in the pairs spin
  • I like their nod to classical ballet in the middle with the pas de deux moves
de la Mora/Wilson: 37.55 TES + 38.28 PCS -1.00 = 74.83 Total: 114.27 and into 3rd place
  • They are skating to Transformers and Batman and are currently in 8th place
  • Not really sure if that was supposed to be a throw or a twist but she falls on it
  • Good side by side double + double
  • Double twist with a good catch
  • I'm not sure I'm crazy about both the skirt and the pants for this costume
  • Very nice throw triple salchow
  • Somersault up into a reverse hand to hand lift with a nice change of position and a flip exit
  • Really nice flexibility from both of them in the pairs spiral
  • Nice air position from her in the hand to hand lift with a one arm hold and exit
  • Good side by side doubles
  • Nice unison on their side by side spins but they lose it through the position changes
  • Flat death spiral position with a change of hold and she doesn't seem to know what to do with her free arm
  • Bobble in the middle of their pairs spin and they lose their grip for a second
  • A bit of a struggle getting into the ending pose and a little after the music
Pfund/Reiss: 43.96 TES + 43.32 PCS -4.00 = 83.28 Total: 126.99 and into 1st place
  • They are skating to Treasure Island and are currently in 7th place
  • Nice double twist
  • He falls on the side by side triple salchows
  • A little forward but she hangs on to the throw triple salchow
  • She could use a more stretched out split position in the hip hold lift
  • The fake corset laces on the backs of the dresses are all the rage this season!
  • Nice death spiral position
  • Not a great position for the spiral but the lines match
  • Nice side by side double axel sequence but they get a little far apart during the jumps
  • Good throw double loop
  • She's spinning much faster than him on the side by side spins
  • I'd like to see more arch in the hand to hand hold but a nice carry feature in their lift
  • Decent speed on their pairs spin but her leg is really out to the side instead of behind her in the catchfoot of the upright spin
  • A bit awkward in the ending pose and they're struggling to hang on to it
Simpson/Blackmer: 46.63 TES + 50.68 PCS = 97.31 Total: 146.43 and into 1st place
  • They are skating to Titanic and currently in 3rd place
  • Nice double twist with one arm up during the rotation
  • Really nice throw triple loop with good ice coverage
  • Nice side by side double axels
  • Hand to hand hold into a nice one arm hip hold in attitude and a flip exit
  • Nice connection and position on their spirals
  • Pretty good unison on their side by side spins but she needs more stretch through her free leg in the sit positions to match his position
  • Nice solid throw triple
  • Double + double toe side by side jumps were nice
  • I like all the nuances in their program like the head roll going into the death spiral
  • I'd like to see a more stretched out death spiral position from her
  • Hip lift in a nice attitude position and she holds on to her blade through the exit
  • Nice expression through the pairs spin with nice arm movements from him and good positions
  • Such an absolutely stunning program
Calalang/Sidhu: 41.01 TES + 44.99 PCS -2.00 = 84.00 Total: 134.84 and into 2nd place
  • They are skating to Miss Saigon and are currently in 2nd place
  • She falls on the opening side by side double axels
  • Nice clean double twist
  • I'd like to see more stretch in the hand to hand lift but a nice one handed exit
  • Nice side by side double lutz + double toe
  • She steps out of the throw triple salchow
  • Nice position in the pairs spiral
  • Good unison on the side by side spins through the beginning section
  • Decent positions in the pairs spin but I'd like to see her be more expressive and soft with her arm
  • Hand down on the throw triple
  • Nice press up into a star lift and a dance lift exit
  • Good death spiral position
  • Finished a bit before the music ended
Denney/Frazier: 47.01 TES + 50.00 PCS -1.00 = 96.01 Total: 148.84 and into 1st place
  • They are skating to Pearl Harbor and are currently in 1st place
  • Really nice triple twist to open their program
  • Nice side by side double axels
  • Nice throw triple salchow
  • Nice roration up to the hand to hand lift and a position chnage to a hip hold
  • I really like the connection and expression they're showing through the middle of this program
  • Nice side by side jump sequence
  • Nice pairs spiral well timed with the music
  • She falls on the throw triple loop
  • Good death spiral position with a nice change of hold
  • I love how genuine Haven's expressions are in this program
  • Nice positions in the pairs spin and good timing but a little slow toward the end
  • Hip lift right into the catchfoot with a cartwheel exit
  • Nice arm positions for her in the pairs spin with nice speed and positions but a little slow after the change of direction
  • Finished a beat before the music
Duarte/Grafton: 46.87 TES + 48.65 PCS = 95.52 Total: 144.35 and into 3rd place
  • They are skating to Dr Zhivago and are currently in 4th place
  • Good double twist
  • This dark cranberry color and short skirt really show off her long legs
  • Nice throw triple loop
  • Triple toes + double toes; he had a small bobble between jumps but otherwise nice
  • Gorgeous air position for her in the hand to hand lift
  • She turns out of the side by side triple salchows
  • Really nice ice coverage of the throw triple salchow but she double foots the landing
  • Nice stretched out positions in the side by side spins with decent timing
  • Good pairs spiral
  • Really nice entry into the star lift with fast rotations
  • Good death spiral position but not very many rotations or change of hold
  • He loses his balance on the pairs spin in the change of foot
