Camille Davis: 19.29 TES + 19.14 PCS -1.00 = 37.43
- She is 17 years old and skating to Pachalbel Meets U2
- She has really nice expression but I'd like to see more flow in her arms in the opening
- Fall on the opening triple toe
- Double lutz with a nice arm flourish at the end
- Nice one foot section with good ice coverage but she looks a little tired at the end
- Decent layback position into a haircutter
- Looked a little two footed on the double axel
- Good positions in the sit spin with good speed and flow out of the element
- Good camel position with nice speed but a loss of centering in the change to the sit spin
Polina Edmunds: 29.45 TES + 21.57 PCS = 51.02 and into 1st place
- This girl has so much presence on the ice, it's hard to believe she's just 13 years old
- Nice opening triple flip + triple toe
- Good triple lutz
- Nice stretched out position in the sit spin but she could be a bit lower
- Sometimes it looks like she's rushing through her steps instead of really committing to the program and the choreography and selling it to the music
- Nice layback spin right up into a nice stretched out Biellman with great speed
- REally nice camel position with good speed into a nice twisted sit but she could stretch more through her free leg
- Solid double axel right at the end of the program
Allison Timlen: 17.61 TES + 19.33 PCS -1.00 = 35.94 and into 3rd place
- Starts off with a nice sit spin with a good twisted position
- Two foots the triple lutz and turns out of it
- Triple loop really far down in her knees manages to eke out the double loop but falls
- Really nice layback spin--she looks like a ballerina in a music box but she loses all her speed going into the Biellman and can't extend it
- Nice double axel
- Lots of movement and edge changes and use of the upper body in her step sequence
- Not too bad on the illusion spins but not great into an overhead heel stretch spin
Barbie Long: 27.76 TES + 21.04 PCS = 48.80 and into 2nd place
- She is 15 years old and skating to Swan Lake
- Starts off with a nice fast camel spin into a sit position (could be lower but nice stretch)
- Nice triple lutz with choreography right out of it
- Hands down on the triple flip and two footed on the double toe
- She moves so fast down the ice and I really like how she fills the space by really stretching through her arms and using her whole body in the transition moves and step sequence
- Spread eagle into a double axel perfectly timed with the music
- Nice sit spin
- Nice twisted layback position into a haircutter and a Biellman
Mariah Bell: 23.21 TES + 23.54 PCS = 46.75 and into 3rd place
- She is 15 years old and is skating to Mack and Mabel
- Her sister Morgan will compete in the senior ladies event
- She is just adorable and has so much personality on the ice but has really grown up from last season
- Nice double axel to open the program
- Good triple lutz and she's really selling this program
- Really off in the air on her triple flip and she only manages to tack on a single toe
- Good speed through her combination spin with some nice positions that really fit the character of the program
- Really nice low sit position
- I like that she maintains her speed through this step sequence even with a one foot section and all the edge changes
- Really nice layback position with tons of speed into a nice Biellman
Jenelle Herman: 20.42 TES + 18.61 PCS = 39.03 and into 4th place
- She is 17 years old and skating to Once Upon a Time in Mexico
- I really like her nuances in this program and the sharp and subtle uses of her arms to portray the Spanish feel
- Nice double axel but a little forward on the landing and she has to squeeze to hold on
- Double lutz with a nice arm variation on the finish
- Good position in the camel spin but a loss of centering throughout the position changes
- Triple toe + double toe with a turn out of the first jump and wild arms on the second
- Nice layback position but only a haircutter
- I really like this step sequence and she really gets across the ice while still keeping the character of the program
- Nice flying entry to the twisted sit spin
Gracie Gold: 34.38 TES + 25.83 PCS = 60.21 and into 1st place
- She is 16 years old and skating to the Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy
- Super fast rotation with great height on the triple flip + triple toe
- Really nice triple lutz
- Nice low sit spin position but it looked like she wasn't quite matched up with the timing of the music
- Nice double axel
- This is a nice step sequence with some unusual moves but I'd love to see her smile!
- Good layback spin into a nice stretched out Biellman with good speed
- Nice fast catchfoot camel spin into a nice spit position and a good layback haricutter
- Finished just a hair after the music
Gwendolyn Prescott: 24.58 TES + 20.26 PCS = 44.84 and into 5th place
- Big kick into the double axel but she lands it
- Triple toe + double toe with a one arm variation
- Nice speed in her spins but a bit of an awkward exit
- Double "Rippon" Lutz
- Good layback position with an amazing Bielmann and so much speed!
- Interesting twisted camel position with both arms over her head and a nice triangle position
- I don't think she's fully committing to some of this choreography. But it's kind of a mixed program with some African steps in a Mulan costume with some lyrical moments. She needs more cohesive packaging because she has some great skills
- She almost fell in the illusion in her step sequence but held on to it.
- If she could up her technical ante, she could be right up there as she has really nice spins and transitions
Ashley Cain: 24.58 TES + 24.03 PCS = 51.80 and into 2nd place
- She is 16 years old and skating to Montserrat
- A little two footed but she hangs on to that triple lutz
- Triple loop + double loop
- I love her intensity and how much she sells this program
- A step out of the double axel but she does her best to make it look like choreography. Kudos to her!
- She could use more speed through the sit spin
- Decent layback but I wish she would have a better hand position and add a haircutter or a Biellman
- Some really nice edgework from Ashley and nice finishes to all her steps
- Good camel position into a nice low sit spin but she could stretch more through her free leg in the upright position and maintain the speed
- We'll be seeing her later this week for the senior pairs event as well
Hannah Miller: 30.29 TES + 24.15 PCS = 54.44 and into 2nd place
- She is 15 years old and skating to Danse Macabre
- Nice broken leg sit spin with good flow out of the element and nice musicality
- Triple flip + double toe a little halted coming out of the jumps
- Triple lutz right on the music
- Nice fast double axel with a solid landing
- Nice camel position with an increase in speed through the catchfoot and into a nice twisted sit spin
- Really fast turns and change of edge through this step sequence and it's nice to see her perform it as well
- Nice speed in the layback but she loses some in the Biellman--she also lost a lot of the crowds energy when the music and her performance came to what seemed to be the end but started up again with just the spin and a slower portion of the song
Katarina Kulgeyko: 27.04 TES + 20.51 PCS -1.00 = 46.55 and into 7th place
- She is 15 years old and skating to Love Theme
- Falls on the second jump of her triple toe + triple toe combo
- Holds on to the landing of the triple lutz
- Nice sit spin positions and speed
- Good combo spin but a loss of centering and speed as she went through the positions
- Spiral into a nice double axel
- Good Biellman but not a lot of speed
- After some of the other performances it lacked a bit of the sparkle to really wow you
Jessica Hu: 23.60 TES + 19.5 PCS -1.00 = 42.35 and into 9th place
- She is 16 years old and is skating to Danse Macabre
- Really nice opening triple loop + double loop
- Two footed and a fall on the triple lutz
- Nice stretch through her twisted sit position but not a lot of speed or flow coming out of it
- Nice spread eagle into a double axel
- Really pretty layback position into a haircutter
- Really wobbly on her edges through the step sequence
- Decnet camel spin but she really cranks to get the upright spin with the overhead hold
