The event starts at 8:30am EST.
The 1st group is on the ice for warmup
Group 1Kadlecova/Bidar, CZE: 42.09 TES + 41.52 PCS -1.00 = 82.61 Total: 120.95
- They are skating to Phantom of the Opera and the mask is worked into the design of his costume
- Nice side by side triples with good unison
- Good double twist with a clean catch
- Good throw triple salchow
- Fall on the throw triple
- Spiral entry into the overhead lift with a one arm exit
- Good unison at the beginning of their side by side spins but they lose it in the middle and are very far apart on the ice
- Through the leg into a lift with him holding her by the hip and switching to a one leg glide for him with a flip exit
- Good position for her in the catchfoot in the lift and he sets her down in the same position as in the air
- Double salchow sequence was a little off
- Nice arch in her death spiral but her free leg was very high
- A few awkward positions in their pairs spin as well as an awkward shift in their change of direction
- Interesting spiral where they are entwined
Steele/Schultz, CAN: 49.85 TES + 44.74 PCS -1.00 = 93.59 Total: 141.84 and into 1st place
- High fast rotation on the double twist
- Nice double axel sequence but she turns out of her second one
- A little two footed on the landing of the throw triple toe
- Great spiral positions from them
- Nice air position for her with a great toss twist exit
- Fall on the throw triple salchow
- I like how much stretch she shows through the catch foot position in the lift and a nice split position but the flip exit seems choppy
- Good speed in the pairs spin with nice positions and a slightly choppy transition in the middle
- Good side by side triple flips
- At the beginning of this lift it wasn't clear if her leg was bent or straight
- Good death spiral with a change of arm from him but she's almost laying on the ice by then
- Good unison on the side by side spins in the beginning
Yu/Jin, CHN: 63.11 TES + 45.43 PCS = 108.54 Total: 162.96 and into 1st place
- Huge double twist
- Very nice double axel sequence; she's very springy on her jumps
- Good side by side triple toes
- Smooth transition in their combination spin
- Great flexibility from both of them in the spiral sequence right into the death spiral--why is her free leg so high?
- She needs to stretch through the free leg in her air positions so it doesn't hang there
- Big throw triple loop
- Throw triple salchow and she ekes out the landing
- They pick up and lose unison throughout the side by side spins
- One arm lift with her in a split and grabbing her leg
- Nice difficult entries and exits in their lifts
Evora/Ladwig, USA: 60.51 TES + 53.24 PCS -1.00 = 112.75 Total: 170.63 and into 1st place
- Triple twist with a clean catch but not a ton of height
- She steps out and then falls on their side by side triples
- Nice landing on that throw triple
- He steps out of their side by side double axels but they manage to complete the combination
- Nice death spiral with a change of arm from him
- Good unison on their side by side spins but they get off on the final spin
- Nice landing on the throw triple loop
- Backwards entry into the lift and she is sitting on one hand while he skates backwards
- Good connection between them on the spiral sequence
- Cool toss lift to her stomach and a one arm hold with her on her side
- Good speed in the pairs spin with seamless transitions
- Lift from the kneeling position with a flip exit
Group 2
Sui/Han, CHN: 56.66 TES + 54.81 PCS -2.00 = 109.47 Total: 169.47 and into 2nd place
- Love the dramatic entrance from them
- He catches her too far forward on the quad twist and she falls
- She falls on the side by side jumps and they won't get credit for the three jump combo
- Huge throw triple salchow and she lands almost across the rink from him
- I'm not sure why the death spirals all have this high free leg today
- Good peed in their spins with decent unison
- Great flexibility from her in the spiral sequence
- Another huge throw and she gets the landing
- She steps out of the side by side double axel and they are really far apart
- Forward roll press into the lift and her extension in the air has really improved
- They could use more speed through the first half of their pair spin but good speed on the second half
- One armed entry into the overhead lift with a split exit
- One arm hold in the rotational lift
- Perhaps a botched transitional step--looked like he gave her too much oomph on a slide and she hit the ice a little bit
Zhang/Zhang, CHN: 59.07 TES + 59.03 PCS -1.00 = 117.10 Total: 177.67 and into 1st place
- Opened with a sbs triple toe + double toe + double toe combo; his was really wild
- Nice fast rotational lift with a hip hold
- Great triple twist with a clean catch
- She falls on the sbs salchows
- Good unison on their sbs spins
- Big throw triple loop
- Good stretched out position for her in the one armed lift with her legs in a split
- Good spiral sequence
- Huge throw triple salchow maybe a bit two footed
- Death spiral with a high free leg
- Abrupt pause on the change of direction in their pairs spin and a little slow
- Quick release into the one arm hold in the final lift with a nice change of position
Moore-Towers/Moscovitch, CAN: 56.47 TES + 56.79 PCS -2.00 = 111.26 Total: 172.04 and into 2nd
- She falls on the second of their triple toe sequence
- Triple twist with a clean catch
- Nice lift right into the split with a pretty stretched out position
- Sbs triple salchows were good
- Death spiral with change of grip but she has 0 arch in her back
- Good speed in the pairs spin but still an abrupt change of direction
- She gets her feet caught under her and falls on the throw triple
- Good positions in the spiral sequence
- Great stretch and flexibility through this split position and a nice section with him on one foot
- Hand down on the throw triple salchow
- Really fast on the sbs spins but they lose some unison and they could both stretch more through the upright position
- Press lift from his knee with a change in rotational direction for him and a flip exit
Kavaguti/Smirnov, RUS: 58.53 TES + 63.76 PCS = 122.29 Total: 186.74 and into 1st place
- I like this more elegant look on her than the crazy chopped up hairdo she had last season
- They hit the triple toe + triple toe sequence but she is a little wild on hers and they are really off unison
- High triple twist but there was a slight delay in the rotation and they have a bit of a crashy landing
- Nice throw triple salchow
- Good death spiral from her
- Good unison on their side by side spins but all their positions don't always match
- Great flexibility from her in the spiral sequence
- Great unison on their sbs double axels
- Hand down on the throw triple loop
- Beautiful air position from her in the 1st lift that switches to a handstand position
- She needs more stretch and arch in her back through the standard air position but they have a nice one arm exit
- Great Biellman position from her in the final lift with him on one foot
- Good speed in the pairs spin but it slows near the end; good flow through their change of direction
